The Forum relies on the voluntary input of time, skills and effort from all members and from those hosting, chairing, contributing to and administering the eleven regional groups and sub groups.

The Forum employs a project officer funded by The Scottish Government, the Strategic Timber Transport Scheme, the Forestry Commission and the Confederation of Forest Industries.

The regional timber transport groups groups each have a part-time project officer and voluntary resources from the local authorities, the forestry and timber industries. The Strategic Timber Transport Scheme contributes funding to the project officers’ roles in Scotland.
