The Wales Timber Transport Group was created in March 2002 in response to increasing concern from local communities in particular about the rising volume of timber leaving the forests of Wales and the associated lorry traffic.
The Group has not met in recent years.
Local projects are being continued. The Tywi Timber Transport Forum manages partnership working and infrastructure improvement around the 15000ha Tywi forest in mid Wales.
The Timber Transport Forum and Confor continue to provide support to timber interests in Wales.
