The Highland Timber Transport Group was formed in the mid 1990s and covers the Highland Council area.
The group meets every 4 – 6 months.
The objectives of the Group are to:
Address timber transport issues in the Highland Council area and liaise with other similar groups to find common solutions to problems
Update timber traffic surveys at approximately three year intervals; review and revise agreed routes for timber haulage maps as required
Explore and promote the potential for increased use of rail transport, including the development of additional rail terminals
Explore and promote the potential for increased use of sea transport
