The Dumfries & Galloway Timber Transport Group covers the Dumfries & Galloway Council area.

The objectives of the Group are to:

  • Provide a forum for discussion between timber growers, processors, hauliers and local authorities;
  • Work in partnership with the Council and the Forest Industry to minimise timber transport issues in the area;
  • Maintain under review the routes used within Dumfries & Galloway for the transport timber;
  • Review the infrastructure implications of future timber supply;
  • Apply to the Strategic Timber Transport Scheme to secure vital funding for rural roads.

Dumfries & Galloway Council do not manage the following roads:

  • Trunk roads – A75, A76, A701, A77 and A751, managed by Amey (Tel: 0800 042 0188 )
  • Trunk roads – A7, managed by BEAR Scotland (Customer Care Line Tel: 0800 0281414)
  • Motorways – M74, managed by Autolink (Tel: 08457 966 666)
  • Private roads
